The following is our basic Statement of Faith.
Please read through and let us know if you agree or if you differ in certain areas.
1. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments being given by divine inspiration are the Word of God, without error, and are the final and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; I Thess. 2:13)
2. There is only one living and true God, eternally existing in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is unique and distinct yet they are all the same God. (Matt. 28:18-19; John 1:1; Mark 12:29)
3. The Lord Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of God, one in essence with the Father, born of a virgin, fully God and fully man who took on human flesh, lived a sinless life, was crucified, died, buried and was raised to life on the third day securing salvation for all who will believe in Him. He ascended into heaven and will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and will rule over all. He is the Head of His body – the Church. (Luke 1:30-35; John 1:1-2; Rom. 3:25-26; Phil. 3:20-21; I John 2:1)
4. The Holy Spirit has come into the world to reveal and glorify Christ and to apply the saving work of Christ to men. He convicts and draws sinners to Christ, imparts new life to them, continually indwells them from the moment of spiritual birth and seals them until the day of redemption. His fullness, power and control are appropriated in the believer’s life by faith. (Acts 5:3-4; John 3:6; 14:16-17; 16:7-15; Eph. 2:22; 4:30; 5:18)
5. God made man in His image that He might have fellowship with us. Man sinned by disobeying God and is therefore incapable of a right relationship to God apart from divine grace. (Gen. 1:26; Rom. 3:10-19)
6. Salvation is by grace through faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ on behalf of the sinner. In order to enter into eternal life, one must put their trust solely in the finished work of Christ on the cross, not trusting in attainments of character, morality, church ordinances, efforts at repentance, membership in any church, or other good works to gain any merit before God or progress towards heaven. (John 3:16, 18; Rom. 1:16-17)
7. Once a person places his faith in Christ for salvation, they are saved forever. (John 5:24; 10:28; I John 5:11-13; Jude 24)
